  Response
Over 3,000 responses to the public consultation were received in the eight week period between 14 May and 10 July. Over 125,000 leaflets were delivered to homes in areas along the route, a website was launched and a series of exhibitions, local press, advertising and a series of public meetings were used to promote awareness of the consultation process.

Many special interest groups including conservation and environmental bodies, businesses (retail, commercial and industrial), disability representatives, private and commercial transport operators, retailers and tourism organisations attended special meetings and contributed submissions as part of the consultation.

Support
Of the responses received that stated a preference, 83.6% showed overall support for the concept of the tram in Edinburgh.

Positive and negative comments were received on a number of issues. Recurring issues cited related to route options, design, the main routes in terms of direction, noise, disruption and the environment. In specific areas, cycle paths and footpaths were also highlighted as areas of concern.

Line Two Overview
As part of the consultation, members of the public and other key stakeholders expressed a preference for route options and stop locations on both lines and gave comments on the introduction of trams, as well as making general comment about the scheme.
